Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Make Your Own Tallow Face Cream

Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Make Your Own Tallow Face Cream

Making Tallow Lotion at Home is Not Budget Friendly

The appeal of do-it-yourself skincare is understandable—until you considers the time, cost, and precision required to produce a high-quality batch of tallow face cream. The internet is flush with tallow cream recipes that all require a minimum of tallow, a carrier oil and an essential oil.  While these simple recipes to make tallow lotion at home may seem like a budget-friendly alternative, the reality tells a different story.

You could end up spending well over $100 for your tallow experiment. You'll need to purchase premium-grade tallow, carrier oils, essential oils, and proper storage containers. Your cost per ounce will be more expensive for smaller quantities. Plus your homemade batch will yield more than most people can reasonably use, so the economics of DIY tallow cream quickly become questionable.

And let's be honest, even with the necessary ingredients, successful tallow cream formulation is not always guaranteed. Factors such as temperature control, humidity levels, and cooling techniques all influence the final texture. One misstep, and the result can be a grainy, runny, or lumpy product, making your costly ingredients unusable.  Also, it's not easy to clean up after working with tallow. Tallow is dense and waxy and tends to leave a residue on mixing tools and counters, which makes cleanup notoriously difficult.

Tallow Face Creams with Manuka, Pomegranate and Seabuckthorn

If you want quality, consistency, and incredible ingredients, try purchasing from a reputable, small-batch skincare brand. Companies like Garden Club specialize in expertly blended grass fed and grass finished tallow creams, that have ingredients sourced from all over the world - think Pomegranate oil from India, Seabuckthorn oil from the Himalayas, and Manuka Oil from New Zealand. Who wouldn't rather have these nourishing exotic ingredients than the DIY ingredients found in online recipes?
